Welcome to NWREIA’s September newsletter, first let’s start off with a summary of last month’s meeting NWREIA members were thrilled to be back in person for invaluable networking and education on the CDC’s eviction moratoriums. NWREIA President Christian Bryant, President of IRC Enterprises & IRC Real Estate/Property Management, presented on tenant debt repayment protections, relief fund sources, required tenant rights notices, and exactly what rights and laws landlords are still able to enforce during these challenging times. Thank you to vendor members Networth Realty, Cetan Funds, and Rain City Capital for supporting our meeting!
Our upcoming meeting with long-time NWREIA member & Portland Roundtable Chair Dave Metsker will present on the Probate Process. This is a golden opportunity for investors to make a nice assignment fee of $5,000 or more, by helping families of deceased persons dispose of a house they no longer want or need, or that they cannot afford to keep. Invaluable Q&A session included! Don’t forget to show up at 6:30 p.m. to network with other members and our vendors. Registration is free for members! Trial members are allowed to attend one main meeting and one satellite meeting for free.
Don’t miss the upcoming Financial Freedom for Women with past NWREIA President Randy Smith presenting on “How to Get Rich Slowly: Investing in Multi-Family Properties.” Randy has 42 years of investment brokerage experience. In 1994, he founded Western Equities. A success from it’s inception, Western Equities quickly grew into a $200 million a year powerhouse with 65 employees, brokering both multi-family and telecom related real estate, with offices in New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Portland. He has personally brokered over $250 million in investment real estate nationally and internationally. Registration is free for members! Trial members are allowed to attend one main meeting and one satellite meeting for free.
The next round table will be led by Janel Page and Tom Stutzman and will continue case discussions and market updates at its usual 2nd Thursday time. The round table meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Center in South Salem. Registration is free for members! Trial members are allowed to attend one main meeting and one satellite meeting for free.
The Portland Round Table Satellite Meeting will meet in person at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 16th at Round Table Pizza on SW Barbur Blvd in Portland. Dave Metsker will lead the discussion. Last month, members discussed helping two members figure out how to buy the family home that they inherited. The challenge that is being addressed is the house having a reverse mortgage with a balance that exceeds the financial qualifications of the member’s debt to income ratio, in order to pay off the loan, and be able to live in the house they grew up in. The round table also discussed upcoming tax deed foreclosure deadlines and how it is an opportunity for even new members to make a quick assignment fee, with no advertising cost, and no money out of pocket, except for a little fuel.
